Team Up is a task management and productivity software including the core features like group, chat and task management. Users can communicate and engage more efficiently and transparently by using this all-in-one software. It is founded and operated by Gamania Group.
The conventional workflow requires multiple softwares to complete a task. However, when you dig into the workflow in a corporate environment, there is only one essential: Communication. According to the studies by McKinsey Global Institute and International Data Corporation, many employees spend 60 to 70 percent of their working hours communicating while leaders spend about 80 percent of their time doing so. So the founder of Team Up came up with the idea of integrating the most frequently used productivity softwares and features into one place, in order to avoid time wasting on inefficient communication by switching among multiple softwares at work.
Team Up developed their first MVP mobile app for internal use. For over a year of testing and iterating, they collected a lot of internal user feedback and most of them are the user experience issues. So this is where the collaboration begins. They want to improve the overall user experience and develop the desktop version of Team Up at the same time.
First, we conducted a half-day UX workshop with their CTO, the head of design, the developer and the project manager in order to consolidate their user feedback and pain points. In addition, we helped the client prioritize ideas and features and had several sessions on Stakeholder Alignment, Brand Attributes, User Profile and User Journey Mapping.
Later, we discovered the key challenges and developed our strategy based on the user feedback and UX workshop.
The goal of UI design is to be more focused, flexible and powerful. Under the comprehensive structure, we separated the less active areas (navigation and list) and more active areas (content and sidebar) by using contrast background colors. We made it easier to stay focus on the work and gave our users a clearer visibility into everything happening at every level of the organization.
In addition, we created a design system for prioritizing each task by different labels and color-coded. It allows our users, especially project managers, to easily troubleshoot and to set priorities and reminders. They can also track the overall project status from start to finish. Also, we worked closely with the engineers to develop the filter feature so our users can stay focused by keeping the messages relevant and actionable.
